At Shay Brown Events our passion is planning and design. We produce local, destination weddings  and social events throughout the South East. Our clients experience Wedding Planning that is unique and exclusive to all of our full-service experience packages. We create Weddings and Events that are original and unique making sure to focus on exquisite attention to detail. We are proud to have one of the most experienced wedding planning teams in the Southeast with 18+ year's of experience. Our design is the fundamental approach in creating your wedding and event. Our emphasis with each wedding and event is getting to know you as an individual so that we can capture the essence of your vision. We work with our clients because they believe in what we do and trust our vision for their special day! You become family to the Shay Brown Events Team. Shay Brown Events has been in the Wedding Planning Industry for 18 years and while we serve the Southeast and Destination Clients we are situated in beautiful Asheville North Carolina for us,  this is centrally located for us to reach everyone in the Southeast with ease. We work in Nashville TN, Savannah GA, Greenville SC, Charlotte NC, Bald Head Island NC just to name a few areas we frequent. Basically, if you can dream it, we can create it! There’s only one way to say this. (The polite, Southern way. Obviously.) I can design my BE-hind off ya’ll! It’s true. Give me your boring dining halls, convention centers, your elegant (but sterile) ballrooms, music halls, warehouses and your lackluster backyards. I’ll transform every one of them into a magical space that feels exactly how you wanted but Better, even that what you imagined.

Great design is two-fold. You must be able to see the grand vision of an empty space, while simultaneously zooming way in, to the tiniest detail. Then there’s the flowers. My OTHER favorite thing to do! I’ve designed cozy, intimate ceremonies and elaborate, 800-guest blowouts. I’ve styled magazine shoots, hotel openings, and coordinated more weddings than I can count, ya’ll. I have been at this for 18 years...

When I design something, it becomes intensely personal to me. From the moment, we have our first meeting to the finished product. When I take on a project, I pour every bit of my love, talent, and commitment into it and the result shows in your finished product. Am I intense? Yes. Do I settle for anything less than perfection? Nope. Would YOU settle for anything less when it comes to your wedding? Didn’t think so. Therefore, I do what I love… you become family and it is a partnership for both our team and you as a client. This is why, I ask so many questions… ha

Who am I when I am not designing rooms and planning events? Well here is a little about my life, when I am not planning yours ~ you will find me here… with my #furbabies, Eastwood, Noble, Max, Onyx, and Addy. My lil’ niece Beatrice and the newest addition Oscar.  My Family, they are the most important part of my life. Then there is Wine. Brunch. Travel – wish list Greece in 2019. Rivers & Oceans. Gourmet Chef Tours it is true I am one of those foodie types....

Chief of Perfection & Pretty Things

I am simultaneously thrilled by Excel spreadsheets and peonies. Is there really any other calling for such a gal? My love of planning (and pretty things) traces back to my grandmother. I was born in her house and am bound to her in a special way. She taught me hospitality, graciousness, and the love of flowers. Today, I wear the wedding ring she wore for over 60 years. When I make my final table inspections, perfecting place settings and floral arrangements, making sure everything is just right, she’s with me.

My early work involved non-profit event planning and retreat counseling. In those roles I perfected the 5 P’s: “Prior planning prevents poor performance.” Of course, then there’s the flipside — “We plan and God laughs.” As an event manager for Shay Brown Events, you have to be master of both. Some events unfold like a lazy summer river, while others are ready to overflow the bank. Through it all, I am the watchful guardian on the sides ready to attend to the need before it even manifests.

A wedding is one of the most special, joyous days that will occur in a couple’s lifetime — but it can also generate some intensely stressful moments, both for the couple and their family. Throughout the day (and the days leading up to the day) my role shifts from coordinating to counseling to budgeting to designing to cheerleading, and back again. Just as every couple is unique, every wedding a carries unique set of joys and challenges. My role is to handle every detail with heart, and attend to the soul of the marriage. My work at SBE allows me to spend time with the prettiest thing of all: love.

Other things I love (besides Excel spreadsheets and peonies): flowers of any type, flowering trees of any type, gardening, walking in the woods, swimming in rivers lakes and oceans, my kitty-cats, amazing vistas, quiet calm and peace wherever I can find it!

Hi friends! My name is Lucy Murphy. I was born and raised in the mountains of WNC and feel lucky to call the beautifully intriguing city of Asheville my home. My passion for marketing was sparked at Appalachian State in 2006 and my enthusiasm for events wasn't far behind, creating what I like to think of as a "dynamic duo" of talents.

Ask anyone who has spoken with me for more than a few seconds and you'll quickly learn that I have a flare for story-telling and a love of creating connections. I believe that these traits along with meticulous attention to detail and a can-do attitude create a unique ability to provide the support, creative solutions and top-notch customer service that creates wonderful, one-of-a-kind events and content. I feel blessed to able to share my diverse skillset alongside such an amazing, dynamic team, all focused on making your special day everything it can - and should - be.

Hi y’all! My name is Taylor Lankford and I am the Office Manager of the Asheville Masonic Temple and a Wedding Associate for Shay Brown Events. I am originally from Greensboro, NC but graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in Hospitality and Tourism in May of 2016 and decided I couldn’t leave these beautiful mountains.

I have always loved planning and organizing things even at a very young age. I would plan tea parties to school dances to even my own wedding (when I was 5). In figuring out what I wanted to pursue in college, I reached back to the childhood memories and things I excelled at and it lead me into event management.

Hey everyone! My name is Kayla Ellerbe and I am from this tiny town near Fayetteville called St Pauls. I will be graduating from Montreat College in May 2019 and couldn’t be more excited! I am studying Business Administration with a concentration in Management. I love helping people and being able to make a difference in any way that I can.

In high school, I was a member of my school’s Student Government where we held several events a year. I really enjoyed being able to work on these events and seeing all that went into them from the initial planning stages all the way through to the final production. I came to Shay Brown Events because I was interested in once again seeing the planning and execution of events. I am so glad that I did because on top of being able to work events again, I am able to help people by doing so.

Haley Goforth

My name is Haley Goforth, and I am from Marion, North Carolina, a small town about 40 minutes from Asheville. I attend Western Carolina University where I study Hospitality and Tourism, with a minor in Art. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and new Fiancé, traveling, pinning on Pinterest, antiquing, and watching Clemson Football.

Growing up I took part in setting up for many weddings and events for my church, in our community and for family get-togethers. At home I was always the one setting the tables and making name cards for every guest during the holidays. I have always taken interest in event planning but never thought of it as a possible career until my third year in college. I previously wanted to become an interior designer but realized it wasn’t exactly the right fit for me. I am a lover of all things pretty and weddings seemed to be right up my alley. While completing my internship here at Shay Brown Events I have already experienced many types of weddings and events that have been so helpful in strengthening my knowledge in organizational and creativity skills that will be crucial to become a successful event planner I someday hope to be. My future plans are to someday own and run a venue, learn to play the ukulele and master Calligraphy.

Jamie Weiner

My name is Jamie Wiener and I am from beautiful upstate New York. It was there I was able to attend the State University of New York at Oneonta and acquire my Bachelors of Science in Mass Communications while also pursuing a minor in Women's and Gender studies. After receiving my degree my yearning for exploring, mountains and being close to family brought me to Asheville. When not working you can find me doing improve with friends at Habitat Brewery, reading a gripping book in the nooks of Malaprop's Bookstore, sampling Asheville’s delicious beer on South Slope, and traveling the globe one new city at a time. What brought me to SBE is my love of being a part of the big events of people’s lives. I think my ability to form close connections will be my greatest tool in helping to make the bride(s) and/or groom(s) feel as though they can relax and enjoy their big day. Being able to have a positive impact on a client's wedding day is extremely meaningful and important work. I pull inspiration for my favorite styles of weddings from my surroundings here locally in our mountain ranges or online from websites such as Green Wedding Shoes and Pinterest. My personal favorite style for weddings is a intimate ceremony at a destination locale with a scenic backdrop. As someone who ordains ceremonies myself I feel it is a nice touch to have a meaningful ceremony done by either a close friend or family member.
