Asheville’s Newest Food Truck “GUAJIRO CUBAN" Celebrates its Grand Opening.

The Shay & Company Team is so excited to produce and celebrate the grand opening of Asheville’s newest food truck, GUAJIRO CUBAN COMFORT FOOD on March 18th! This event will take place at GUAJIRO’S permanent location in the parking lot of the Asheville Cotton Mill in The River Arts District. The kid friendly event (12-6pm) will include giveaways, live music, classic cars, domino games, cigars, and much more. Great Wild Nowhere will host an after-party with house music and tribal drumming featuring Montaó Music starting at 8:00 p.m.

GUAJIRO is the childhood dream of owner and founder Christian Barroso, a second-generation Cuban-American who grew up cooking authentic Cuban meals with his grandmother, Nana. Nana would regale Christian with stories about growing up on her father’s farm while teaching him recipes passed down by aunts and grandmothers, all completed with “el toque de Nana” – Nana’s special touch. Now, after years of practicing his culinary skills in a Cuban restaurant and earning a business and entrepreneurship degree from FSU, Christian is bringing his family’s tradition of locally-sourced, fresh, and authentic Cuban food to Asheville.

The food truck brings a genuine Cuban dining experience to Asheville, where – despite the town’s abundant and well-known culinary scene – there is currently no such option. Affordability is a crucial component of the GUAJIRO philosophy – harkening back to the generous days of Barroso’s farming ancestors – so servings will be large and reasonably-priced.
